A football god game that runs itself: a hundred and twenty teams, their players and a league pyramid that evolve without anyone at the wheel.
Clockwork Leagues is a football league that runs like clockwork. Matches are played in real time, managers work the transfer market, players age and retire, teams get promoted and relegated. All of it without human intervention.
Seasons end, players grow old, records fall. A small world that generates data; data that generates stories; stories that will have to survive the passing of time. That is why Clockwork Leagues is not meant to keep a central database that records everything. Its memory is meant to be a knowledge base that inherits the editorials written at the end of every matchday and every season, as if the history of the league were handed down by word of mouth.
Whoever is watching is mostly a spectator: following matches live, browsing standings, results and transfers, tracing the history of past seasons.
Football is the first sport: American football and baseball are on the way.
How it works
- Live matches. A tick-based engine generates an event every 5 seconds: passes, duels, shots, fouls, set pieces. Player ratings shift while the match is being played.
- Manager AI. Every team is an autonomous agent: it reviews its squad, spots the gaps and spends its budget on the players it needs.
- A world that ages. Players develop, decline, retire and are replaced by generated youngsters. Teams rise and fall through a league pyramid with playoffs and playouts.
